Holly has been practicing in the counseling field for over 20 years. She is a licensed clinical counselor and a licensed chemical dependency counselor with supervision experience in both specialities. Holly has been practicing in the counseling field for over 20 years. She is a licensed clinical counselor and a licensed chemical dependency counselor with supervision experience in both specialities. She has spent her career working in community mental health and addiction treatment, until opening Clarity Counseling Services as a small practice.
Holly strives to create a safe space that feels inclusive and affirming to all. Her approach is a strengths based focus on the relationship with her clients, building trust, prompting reflection, and teaching skills. Holly began her first career in the education field and finds these skills very useful in the counseling space.
Areas of Holly's treatment competence include trauma, grief, addiction, and how these points of suffering often intersect. Holly uses evidence based skills from DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Reframing and Reflection, and Compassion based techniques that build a healthy sense of self. She also has extensive training in art therapy and the use of creative expression for self-exploration.
